You should know we are different than most contractors doing service work though. We do it the old fashioned way. We charge you by how many hours it actually takes to do the work, not by a flat rate.
You may not be aware of what flat rate pricing is. Let us educate you. This type of pricing first started in the automotive industry and then made its way to the air conditioning industry, and it has finally become common place in the electrical industry.
The idea is to charge you a small upfront fee to come to the home and then when the service person gets there, talk you into accepting the work you need done, at a ridiculously high "flat rate" or "guaranteed rate". The service person typically gets a percentage of everything he sells, so it is in his best interest to get you to pay whatever he can.
We believe this should be called "Rip-off Pricing", not flat rate pricing. Typically this results in the homeowner paying several times more than he would have paid if he had just paid for the hours it actually took.
We prefer to bill you fairly, and we only send one man in the truck to do the job, as one man can usually do the job in 1/2 the hours it takes two men.
